After going three games with a touchdown, Herbert Hoover might
have considered it a moral victory to have scored and lost.
But the Huskies wouldn't settle for just hitting paydirt.
They
did it twice and nipped the visiting Nitro Wildcats, 14-7.
Outscored 105-2 in its first three games, the Huskies got on the
scoreboard in the second quarter on a one-yard run by Jay Martin for
a 7-0 halftime lead.
Nitro, which had beaten
meetings, knotted the score at 7-7 in the third period when Greg
Bibbee ran three yards for a touchdown.
Nitro missed a 27-yard field goal attempt in the fourth period
. Late in the game,
40-yard line and the Huskies marched to the winning touchdown with
1:16 to go. Jay Coleman scored from two yards out.
Bibbee rushed for 103 of Nitro's 194 ground yards,
and John
Blankenship got 129 of
