More than 500 athletes are practicing football in Kanawha County
as high school teams go into the second week of drills today.

NITRO: "We've progressed faster than I thought we would,'
said Coach Greg Cyrus. "We're fairly strong, but we don't have a
lot of speed. We have some kids who can catch the ball, so we're
going to try to throw it.'
At Nitro's midnight practice, in front of about 75 fans, the
Wildcats "did better than I thought they would,' said Cyrus.
"This group is as far along as any I've had.'
