South Charleston and Nitro boosted their records to 2-0 in high
school football on Friday night while DuPont, Winfield and Valley
scored their first victories.

Nitro 22,Hurricane 12


Spotting the Redskins a 12-0 lead, Nitro roared back to win at
Hurricane. Nitro went up 14-12 on a 44-yard run by Boom McKinney, a.
12-yard pass from Shannon Thomas to Ronnie Withrow and McKinney's run
for a two-point conversion. Donnie Withrow ran five yards for the
final touchdown.
Hurricane had taken the lead on a one-yard run by John Godfrey
and an 87-yard dash by Eric Blake, who totaled 175 yards on 18
carries. Hurricane lost five of six fumbles.
Nitro, 2-0, hosts Capital on Friday. Hurricane, 0-1, goes to
Parkersburg South.
