George Washington defeated Nitro while St. Albans and
Sissonville played non-Kanawha County opponents and split in Friday
night football games.

The Patriots boosted their record to 4-1 by routing the Wildcats
behind 82- and 24-yard touchdown runs by Todd Hall _ his 11th and
12th of the season _ and 55- and 6-yard TD gallops by brother Tony
Hall. They combined for 282 of GW's 301 yards on the ground as Todd
got 155 on 15 carries and Tony 127 on 13 at Laidley Field.
John Hull passed to Todd on a 13-yard scoring pass play. For
Nitro, David Stalnaker booted a 27-yard field goal and Kerry Jones
ran 29 yards for a touchdown after picking up a GW fumble _ Nitro's
only touchdown in its last four games.
GW, after losing to East Bank in its second game, outscored
Huntington, Bluefield and Nitro by 79-26. GW is 4-1 for all games
and 1-0 in the Kanawha Valley Conference. The Patriots play at
DuPont next Friday.
Nitro is 2-4 and 0-4 with a home game Friday against St. Albans
