Nitro 23, Scott 12
Quarterback Dan Taylor passed for one touchdown and ran for
another, leading Nitro's Wildcats to a Mountain State Athletic
Conference Gold Division win over Scott at Madison.
Nitro improved its record to 4-3, including 3-2 in the
conference, and dropped Scott's Skyhawks to 2-6 and 0-4 in conference
play.
Taylor carried 15 times and gained 78 yards, including a 7-yard
touchdown, for coach Greg Cyrus' Wildcats. He hit tight end Tim
Jones on an 11-yard TD pass. Dan Hughes capped Nitro's scoring with
a 7-yard run after Scott pulled within 16-12 on Shawn Queen's 3-yard
run. Earlier, Bobby Meadows gave Scott a 6-3 lead with an 8-yard
scamper.
Queen paced Scott's running attack with 15 carries for 73 yards
. Quarterback Jeremy Bias of the Skyhawks connected on 8-of-18
passes for 133 yards.
