- NITRO 24, HURRICANE 9 -
Sophomore quarterback J.R. House threw for
three touchdowns and 342 yards to lift the Wildcats to victory.
Nitro took an early lead at
Hurricane when House threw a 4-yard pass
to David Kessler for a touchdown with 3:56 left in the first quarter.
The Wildcats (2-0)
got other touchdowns on a 23-yard pass from House
to Zach Collins and a 14-yard pass from House to Collins.
Barry Dickerson kicked a
22-yard field goal in the second quarter for
Nitro, which held a 10-3 lead at halftime. Nitro finished the game
with 354 yards of offense, including just 12 yards rushing.
Hurricane (1-1) got its
only touchdown when Travis Carrier punched the
ball across from 8 yards out in the third quarter.
Leif Walroth
kicked a 21-yard field goal for the Redskins' other
score.
