Wildcat sophomore
quarterback J.R. House completed 24-of-29 passes for
307 yards and three touchdowns as Nitro improved to 7-1 overall and
6-0 in the Mountain State Athletic Conference Gold Division.
With the 307 yards, House
broke the state record for regular-season
passing yardage. the old mark was 2,374 yards. House
now has 2,543. He
is 409 yards short of the state all-game mark of 2,952.
The seven victories are the
most for Nitro since 1971 when the
Wildcats were 9-1. The lone setback that season was a 9-0 loss to
The victory also clinches
at least a share of the MSAC Gold title.
The Panthers dropped to 3-5
and 2-4. It was DuPont's first loss to
Nitro since 1989.
