NITRO 28, RIPLEY 20: Nitro quarterback Jason Ward threw two late
touchdowns passes to lift the Wildcats past host Ripley.

The loss drops the Vikings to 0-4 for the first time in coach Frank
Marino's tenure at Ripley.

Ripley held a 20-13 lead in the fourth quarter before Ward found Jeff
Clark for a 74-yard scoring bomb to push Nitro (3-2) ahead. Ward
connected with Clarence Joyner on a 77-yard strike for the final
margin.

Ward, who replaced J.R. House as quarterback for Nitro, finished the
night 8-of-19 for 193 yards and three touchdowns.

Clark had five grabs for 128 yards and two TDs. Nitro tailback Chris
Creamer churned out 128 yards on 28 carries.

Justin Southall led the Vikings with 163 yards on 23 carries.

Ripley, which plays George Washington next week, hasn't started a
season with five-straight losses since 1976.
