Prep football roundup; Scott Leads Nitro past Lincoln County
Nitro ran three first-quarter plays
and scored touchdowns on all three en route to a 47-22 victory Friday at
Lincoln County.
The first three plays were TD passes, quarterback Michael Scott hitting Brett McClanahan
on a 73-yarder and Marcos Valentine for 59 and 64 yards, giving the Wildcats
(3-1) a quick 19-0 lead.
Scott continued his perfection,
finishing the night by completing all 14 of his passes for 389 yards and seven
touchdowns. Valentine caught four passes and all went for touchdowns, totaling
153 yards.
McClanahan caught five for 183 yards
and three TDs. Adam Howell caught three passes for 21
yards, and Mark Massey carried eight times for 50 yards as part of Nitro’s 113
yards on the ground.
Nitro, which carried a 40-0 lead
into the fourth quarter, finished with 502 total yards, and Lincoln totaled
387.
For Lincoln (0-5), Tyler Browning
threw touchdown passes to Jacob Ashworth and Schuyler Pritchard covering 37 and
76 yards, respectively. Heath Workman also scored on a 7-yard carry.
Lincoln County
rushed for 210 yards and threw for 177.
