NITRO'S
UPSET loss to Cabell Midland has the Wildcats in nearly a must-win situation
this week when they travel to Hurricane. Nitro would be hard-pressed to make
the Class AAA playoffs with less than a 7-3 record. The Wildcats are 4-3.
Midland
junior quarterback Tyler Bartley one-upped Nitro counterpart Michael Scott in a
game of ‘Anything you can do I can do better' on Friday. Bartley, who earlier
this season torched Parkersburg's secondary and exposed the achilles of the
defending champion in a near-upset, threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns.
He outdid his passing with his running prowess, however, rushing for 247 yards
and two touchdowns.
Scott
finished with 237 yards passing while completing an unusually low 15-of-39
passes.
He threw two
touchdown passes but was intercepted three times.
A week after
amassing more than 500 yards against archrival St. Albans, Nitro was held to
285 total yards against the Knights.
