Nitro’s McClanahan signs with Akron
Nitro
senior Brett McClanahan signed a national letter of intent recently to play
basketball at Division I Akron of the Mid-American Conference.
McClanahan
has scored 1,378 career points and was a Class AAA first-team all-state
selection after last season. The 6-foot-3 McClanahan averaged 23.3 points and
hit 64 3-pointers while averaging 5.2 assists and 4.1 steals. McClanahan’s
career point total makes him the No. 3 career scorer in school history, behind
only Jason Beller (1,543) and Jeff Clark (1,361).
Akron finished with a 26-7 record last season and
lost by one point in the MAC championship game.
