| The Hunt Award is named in honor of Ken Hunt, who coached at Beckley's Woodrow | |||||
| Wilson High and Richwood High. It was founded in 1959 by the Beckley Elks Lodge & | |||||
| the Richwood Lions Club, two well known service organizations. | |||||
| The "Ken Hunt" Award winner is selected by the All-State Football Committee of the | |||||
| West Virginia Sports Writers Association. The winner gets a plaque and the school | |||||
| is presented with the five-foot high trophy which is transferred from school to school | |||||
| each year. | |||||
| Only 2 high schools have ever kept the trophy 2 years in a row … Parkersburg in | |||||
| 1976-1977 and Capital in 1989-1990. | |||||
